The main objective of this poster is to provide a visual representation and analysis of the immigrant population in Canada in 2022. Through maps and graphs, the poster aims to showcase the distribution of immigrants across different provinces and highlight the top three provinces with the highest percentage of immigrants: Ontario, British Columbia, and Quebec. Additionally, the poster will explore the top five destinations within each of these provinces, providing valuable insights into the immigrant settlement patterns. (Government of Canada, 2023)

The analysis is based on the latest data available for 2022, sourced from official government statistics and immigration reports.

Purpose of Graphic Elements

1. Canada Map:

The Canada map serves as an overview, highlighting the general distribution of immigrants across provinces. It supports the main objective by providing a context for understanding the concentration of immigrants in different regions of the country. (Esri, 2023)

2. World Map:

India, China, and the Philippines stand out as the top three countries of origin for immigrants in Canada. These countries contribute a significant number of immigrants, and their citizens are drawn to Canada's robust economy, high standard of living, and inclusive society. The large Indian community in Canada reflects the strong ties between the two countries, while Chinese and Filipino immigrants continue to play a crucial role in Canada's multicultural landscape. 3. Top Three Province Maps:

These maps zoom in on the provinces: Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec with the highest immigrant populations, offering a more detailed analysis of their distribution. Inset maps further emphasize the specific cities or regions within these provinces that attract the highest number of immigrants. (Esri, 2023)

4. Column Chart:

The column chart presents a comprehensive view of the immigrant populations in all provinces. It allows viewers to compare different provinces and identify major destinations for immigrants. Some main among the provinces are Ontario, British Columbia, Quebec, Alberta and Manitoba. For this poster, only the top three are considered.

5. Donut Charts:

The donut charts offer a clear depiction of the top five destinations within the high-immigrant provinces. They enable viewers to recognize the significance of specific cities or regions as popular choices for immigrants.

Each province has its individual donut chart reflecting the top five destinations in the respective province. For Ontario: Toronto, Peel, York, Ottawa and Halton, for British Columbia: Greater Vancouver, Capital, Fraser Valley, Central Okanagan and Nanaimo and for Quebec: Montreal, Laval, Longueil, Quebec and Gatineau.
